1. For plantain and banana farmers
You already cut the stem down after taking the bunch, and you pay for the labour to clear it. Greenroot registers farming households and buys that stem, at rates published ahead of each buying season so you know the price before you cut.
The buying network is being built out ward by ward. Register now and you will be included as collection points open in your area.
How to register
- Register your farm and ward with a Greenroot collection agent, or message us directly.
- Cut the stem base to our harvest guideline after removing the fruit bunch.
- Deliver to your local collection point, or request a scheduled farm gate pickup once your ward has one.
2. For trained producers
Producers trained at a Greenroot centre leave with a certificate and a stream-specific starter kit: prepared fibre, a weaving frame or moulds, hand tools and packaging. Machine processing stays at the centre, because hand extraction of fibre is punishing work and does not pay. The kit is built so you can earn from the first week at home.
The buyback commitment
- Greenroot buys qualifying finished bags, mats, footwear and cushions at published wholesale rates, for the period set in your producer agreement.
- Payment is made on approval at quality check.
- You are free to sell to any other buyer as well. The buyback is a floor under your income, not an exclusive tie.
