Construction grade fibre

Plaster of Paris ceiling board fibre

Decorticated, washed, dried and baled plantain fibre, supplied to ceiling board manufacturers and construction material distributors.

Natural reinforcement for ceiling board

Ceiling board manufacturers need tensile reinforcement to stop boards cracking as the plaster sets and during transport and installation. Most of the reinforcement in use in Nigeria is synthetic matting or imported sisal. Both carry import cost, import lead time and exposure to the exchange rate.

Plantain pseudostem fibre is a domestic alternative. It is long, flexible and light per unit, and it introduces no synthetic resin or binder into the board. This is the line our Technology Incubation Centre business plan was built around, and it remains the core of our industrial offer.

Target specification

These are the grades our processing is set up to hit. They are targets, not certified results, and we have not yet commissioned independent laboratory testing. We would rather say that than have a delivery rejected.

Cleanliness
Decorticated and hackled, above 95 per cent fibre
Bale format

Test it before you commit

We supply samples for you to run against your own plaster formulation and your own board line. Agree the grade and the price on your results, not on our description. Bulk terms are set after the sample passes.

Why consider plantain fibre

  • Locally produced, so no import lead time and no foreign exchange exposure on the reinforcement line.
  • Long, flexible plant fibre with low unit weight, and no synthetic resin or binder introduced into the board.
  • Raw material is renewed at every plantain harvest, across a farmer network we register and pay directly.

Also available to trade buyers

  • Utility rope and twine, gauges to order
